Event for Die-Hard Spike Fans

01– 04 March 2018 Ice Speedway Union Berlin invites all spike fans to the Ice Speedway Grand Prix. Ice Speedway-Festival begins on Thursday, March 1, when you can see the race for the German championship. On Friday, March 2, the public training of the world championship riders will be held. And on the main days (Saturday, March 3, and Sunday, March 4) the 16 world’s best ice speedway racers will saddle the iron horses to compete for a rank of the strongest. It will be hot on the ice!

A Sport for the Real Gladiators

Horst-Dohm-Eisstadion in the district Wilmersdorf is the arena for the Ice Speedway Grand Prix 2018. Ice-oval, motorcycles with studded tires and fearless ice-gladiators – all of this is ice speedway. It dates back to the 1920s and was first just winter training for motocross racers. But today it’s a sport, and by the way, very impressive one. So come to Berlin and enjoy the skills of the world’s best and bravest ice racers!

Spikes and Speed

Ice speedway is a spectacular, but very dangerous sport: the tires are studded with 28 mm long spikes, and speeds reach 100 km/h! The drivers use special light ice racing machines, and races are usually held counterclockwise around oval tracks 400 meters in length.

The first spring weekend in Berlin will be hot: the best ice speedway athletes and the die-hard ice racing fans meet in the Horst-Dohm-Eisstadion.
