The Irish Patron Saint
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on 17 March: it is the official national holiday of Ireland in honor of Patrick of Ireland, the Irish patron saint, and a Catholic missionary. The originally religious holiday is now a breathtaking folk festival and is also celebrated around the world. So, Berlin invites all lovers of Irish culture to St. Patrick’s Festival. Irish pubs offer live music, the traditional drink Guinness, Irish treats – and, of course, an unforgettable festive atmosphere!
Birgit & Bier
The extraordinary club Birgit & Bier on the Schleusenufer in Kreuzberg invites Berliners and guests of the city to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 14. The party starts at 4 pm, for the visitors are waiting: the Irish deputy ambassador, the Berlin bagpipe players “The Berlin Pipe Company”, the Irish dancers “Jigs & Reels”, the bands “The Sunbeams”, “The Broken Jug Ramblers” and “The Rixdorf Rounders”.
Berlin Radio Tower in the Green Light
On 17 March 2020, on St. Patrick’s Day, the Berlin Radio Tower will be illuminated in green. As well as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum in Rome and the One World Trade Center in New York! The festive lighting is organized by Tourism Ireland as part of the “Global Greening” project. The Berlin Radio Tower is always in green during the International Green Week, but in 2020 we have a special opportunity to see the attraction in the green light in March.
