Legends

St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday in honor of Bishop Patrick, the first Christian missionary in Ireland. He brought Christianity to Ireland and saved the country from the invasion of the snakes. There is another legend: on the way to France, Patrick had to cross the Loire. There was no bridge and no boat, so he used his cape as a raft. On the other side St. Patrick hung the cape on a hawthorn bush for drying. And the bush immediately awoke to bloom, even though it was in the middle of winter!

Truth

But there were legends, and now let’s look at the facts. Fact 1: there are really no snakes in Ireland. Fact 2: the hawthorn blooms in winter in the Loire valley even nowadays. Fact 3: it gets really hot in Berlin on March 17, 2019, but the weather has nothing to do with it! Thrilling Irish dances, traditional dark beer, green shamrock and Leprechaun pranks – the streets of the capital will be transformed into a stage for the colorful folk festival.
